Royal Tour Artist for His Majesty, King Charles III

Luke Allsbrook served as "royal tour artist" for HM King Charles III (then the Prince of Wales) when he visited the United States in November of 2005. His Majesty graciously invites a "tour artist" on His yearly state tours, a tradition started decades ago. Luke is the only American artist ever invited to serve at this post.

"As an engaged Patron of the Arts and a keen amateur watercolourist himself, His Majesty likes to create a record of a tour that goes beyond the limitations of photography.  When he travels abroad, His Majesty chooses a tour artist to join the tour party at his request and his own expense."

As tour artist, Luke traveled with the royal staff, executing painting and drawing sketches over a five day period in the San Francisco area. Most of these works portray scenes of organic farms of Marin County. These farms were the focus of the West Coast stage of the King's tour.
